Fidelity Vacancies – Junior Firefighter

Job Overview:

Fidelity is seeking motivated Junior Firefighters to join our regional teams. As a Junior Firefighter, you will respond to fire-related incidents, perform firefighting duties, provide emergency rescue services, render basic medical care, and participate in fire prevention and training activities. You will also operate and maintain firefighting equipment, working under the supervision and guidance of senior firefighters and officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fires, rescues, and related emergency incidents.
  • Assist in hazardous substance incidents and humanitarian operations.
  • Conduct emergency operations, including casualty extrication and treatment.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and breathing apparatus to control and extinguish fires.
  • Participate in fire protection duties and ensure readiness of equipment.
  • Engage in training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness training.
  • Train employees in fire theory and firefighting practices.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections and advise on preventative actions.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Keep detailed records of incidents using computerized logs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12.
  • IFSAC Accredited.
  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 certification required.
  • At least 2 years of firefighting experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (advanced driving experience advantageous).
  • Medically and physically fit.
  • Knowledge of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Hazmat experience and knowledge.
  • EMT certification and First Aid levels 1 to 3.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the security industry and adherence to the Group’s code of conduct.
  • Understanding of firefighter operational roles and instructor applications.
