Role Overview

We are looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Emergency Management Maintenance team as Junior Fire Fighters progressing to Leading Fire Fighters. In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting Sasol’s assets and partnerships against the risks associated with SHERQ-related emergencies, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply SHE best practices during all emergency management activities.
  • Perform duties as instructed and align with operational objectives.
  • Participate in training to maintain mental and physical readiness for incident management.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations.
  • Conduct reconditioning and maintenance of firefighting and life support equipment.
  • Service all portable firefighting equipment in buildings and plants.
  • Contribute to the improvement of emergency management maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance service delivery and safety.
  • Actively participate in personal development plans (PDP) and meet key performance areas (KPAs).
  • Support housekeeping initiatives to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 with Mathematical Literacy or higher.
  • Must meet the medical fitness level assessment for fire fighters.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001).
  • HPCSA Registered and Current BAA (BLS) or First Aid Level 3.
  • HPCSA Registered and Current ILS.
  • Hazmat Awareness and Operations (NFPA 1072/472).

Note: Placement in a specific rank (Junior Fire Fighter to Leading Fire Fighter) will be based on relevant experience and certifications, as per Sasol’s Emergency Management career path and policies.

Experience

  • 0–5 years of relevant experience.
