Job Description:
Truworths is seeking an IT Support Engineer with a passion for both customer service and technical support. This role involves providing practical hardware and software troubleshooting services across our Head Office, Distribution Centers, and Divisional Offices, both remotely and in-person. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in technical support and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
The successful candidate will be able to interact with business users at all levels, demonstrate strong research skills, and remain calm under pressure. Adaptability and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment are essential for success. The candidate must possess strong troubleshooting skills for computer desktops, Bluetooth and Android scanners, label printers, and have an excellent customer service background. The ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) for telephonic and email support is crucial.
This role also involves several labor-intensive tasks, requiring the candidate to be flexible and responsive to varying demands.
Key Responsibilities:

Engage with customers via email, telephone, or in person to provide support.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software technical issues, including issues related to printers and scanners.

Address user queries efficiently and provide timely feedback.

Log all reported calls via the web, email, or telephone into the CA Logging System.

Maintain awareness of IT security and work with supporting teams to address critical issues promptly.

Provide support and setup of computer desktop equipment in meeting rooms daily.

Set up and image desktop computers for new users.

Move desktop computers during the day and after hours as needed.

Assist in other distribution center areas when required.

Analyze recurring problems and work proactively to develop solutions.
Qualifications and Experience:

Relevant IT tertiary qualification.

Technology certifications such as MCSE and A+ are advantageous.

3-5 years of experience in IT End User Support.

Experience working in a retail warehouse/distribution center environment is a plus.

Understanding of distribution center process-flow, setup, and network requirements.

Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license.
Competencies:

Proficiency in Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11).

Experience with MS Office versions (Office 2010, 2016, 2019, Office 365).

Hands-on experience with hardware such as Android scanners and label printers.

Strong computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.

Ability to image and set up desktop computers.

Effective management of IT hardware and the overall IT environment.
Essential Competencies:

Experience with Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11 operating systems.

Solid troubleshooting skills on both hardware and software levels.

Exposure to IT technologies used in retail distribution centers and warehouses.
Advantageous Competencies:

Familiarity with Microsoft System Center 2012.
