Spar Vacancies – Inventory Controller

Introduction:
SPAR is looking for a motivated and experienced Inventory Controller (Perishables) to join our dynamic team. This role involves overseeing all inventory disciplines and ensuring effective shrinkage control in line with SPAR’s Best Operating Practices (BOP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the inventory department on a daily basis.
  • Compile and analyze daily inventory reports.
  • Ensure optimal space utilization within the warehouse.
  • Achieve targets for cancel lines and picking exceptions.
  • Manage stock rotation, coordinating with Marketing for items nearing expiry.
  • Monitor and control shrinkage by conducting regular stock checks.
  • Investigate lost or misallocated stock to minimize discrepancies.
  • Ensure that damaged items are promptly removed and adjustments are made in the system.
  • Assist with SAP system QA testing for operational developments.
  • Oversee putaways, replenishments, and full pallet picks/letdowns.
  • Drive SAP system hygiene by clearing virtual bins and maintaining EWM system master data.
  • Monitor and resolve qRFC queues in the EWM system.
  • Support Inbound functions as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Conduct daily team meetings and manage staff performance using ROI metrics.
  • Handle grievance and disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Facilitate team development through the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) process.
  • Manage staff attendance, absenteeism, and process staff timecards in the system.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric certificate.
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain is advantageous.
  • Experience in inventory management within a relevant department.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse systems and SAP (ERP and EWM) is essential.
  • Computer literacy with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and lead by example.
  • Willingness to work overtime and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
