Food Lovers Market is excited to offer an Internship in Industrial Organisational Psychology for a passionate individual eager to kick-start their career in this dynamic field. You will join a team of Industrial Organisational Psychologists who have developed entry-level psychometric assessments tailored for the South African market, with over 500,000 completed assessments to date. This internship will focus on the enhancement and development of both existing and new assessments.

This unstructured internship provides an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience while collaborating with our experienced professionals, all committed to transforming the landscape of entry-level employment. As an intern, you will assist with various Organizational Development projects, employee assessments, and research initiatives, gaining practical insights into recruitment, selection processes, and talent management.

Program Details
The Internship in Industrial Organisational Psychology is a 12-month program designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the field through the practical application of theoretical knowledge.

  • Tailored Program: This unstructured internship aims to upskill a Master’s student in Industrial Psychology, preparing you for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Industrial Psychologist (Independent Practice).
  • Paid and Accredited Internship: The program is a paid 12-month internship that will be submitted for accreditation with the HPCSA.

Program Domains:
The internship encompasses six key domains:

  1. Organisational Psychology:
    • Assess and enhance organisational climate and culture.
    • Conduct team assessments and facilitate development interventions.
    • Design leadership competency frameworks and implement change initiatives.
    • Align HR interventions with business strategy.
  2. Human Resources (Personnel) Psychology:
    • Conduct job analyses, manage recruitment, and ensure legal compliance.
    • Develop and evaluate training programs and oversee performance management processes.
    • Improve employee relations and disciplinary practices.
  3. Career Psychology and Employee Wellbeing:
    • Provide career counselling and feedback from assessments.
    • Facilitate workplace counselling for employee wellbeing.
    • Develop retention strategies and initiatives to support talent management.
  4. Testing and Assessments:
    • Administer and interpret psychometric tests (e.g., CPP, 15FQ+).
    • Prepare psychometric reports and provide feedback while ensuring compliance with professional standards.
  5. Elective (Project):
    • Engage in specialist research on organisational performance, particularly regarding deviant and counterproductive behaviours in blue-collar workers.
    • Review literature on psychometric assessments to predict deviant behaviour within the South African context.
  6. Professional Ethics:
    • Identify and evaluate ethical issues, compiling reports on ethical observations.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic performance in Honours (minimum 65% average).
  • Completed Industrial Psychology Master’s (Coursework) by January 2025.
  • Psychometrics must be part of Master’s coursework; experience with R-studio is required.
  • Registered as a Student Psychologist with the HPCSA.
  • Available to work in a hybrid model from January 2025 to December 2025.
