Pep Vacancies – Imports Controller – Northern Suburbs

Purpose of the Position:
The Imports Controller will oversee and coordinate all aspects of import shipments, including the creation of documentary letters of credit, managing documentation accuracy, and supporting special projects to ensure smooth and compliant import processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Imports Management:
    • Create import shipments and documentary letters of credit.
    • Ensure import documentation is accurate, customs compliant, and properly submitted to clearing agents and banks.
    • Track, trace, and prioritize import shipments.
  • Supplier and Agent Communication:
    • Report and communicate effectively with suppliers.
    • Collaborate with clearing and forwarding agents to manage metric exceptions and notify relevant departments of any discrepancies.
    • Follow up on outstanding documents and pro-forma invoices to avoid delays.
  • Database and Reporting:
    • Maintain and update the shipment module on the PLM database with all relevant events.
    • Assist with weekly and month-end reports.
    • Support special projects and ensure accurate record-keeping and filing.
  • Schedule Control:
    • Manage the imports schedule and coordinate container deliveries to the distribution center (DC).
  • General Administration:
    • Perform administrative tasks, including filing, updating reports, and managing correspondence.

Job Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • A qualification in Import/Exports (advantageous).
  • Previous experience in Imports/Exports (advantageous).
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and G Suite.
