Spar Vacancies – Human Resources Development Facilitator

SPAR Western Cape, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd., is seeking a Human Resources Development Facilitator to join the Distribution Centre team in Cape Town. This role focuses on coordinating, facilitating, and managing retail training activities in alignment with the SPAR Academy Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute training programs based on the Retail Training strategy for the Western Cape and Namibia regions.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of training initiatives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate retail training sessions as scheduled in the Training Calendar and handle ad hoc training requests.
  • Provide post-training feedback reports on all facilitated interventions.
  • Conduct store visits to assess in-store training needs and collaborate with retailers and management to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Deliver induction training for new store managers and employees and support new store openings as needed.
  • Promote and oversee the use of e-learning programs in stores while tracking engagement and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate training records on HR Manage.
  • Support retailers in accessing Discretionary Grants through the W&R SETA.
  • Advise and support retailers on career development and performance management processes.
  • Work closely with the HR team and business stakeholders to achieve strategic HR and operational objectives.
  • Assist retailers in conducting training needs analyses.
  • Identify potential business risks related to absenteeism, excessive leave accumulation, and other HR-related challenges.
  • Participate in HR projects and other assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Three to five years of experience in a Human Resources role, ideally in a retail environment.
  • Strong alignment with SPAR values – Passion, Family, and Entrepreneurship.
  • SDF/ETDP qualification is advantageous.
  • Accredited facilitator certification.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to work weekends and after hours when necessary.
  • Frequent travel and in-store presence required.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and self-motivation skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lead by example and serve as a trusted advisor to retailers.
