Job Description:
SPAR is seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resources Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive HR generalist services and support to line management and staff, ensuring effective execution of key HR deliverables and alignment with company policies and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide HR generalist advisory and operational support to line management.
- Coordinate Employment Equity (EE) meetings and compile EE reports.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, induction, and onboarding processes in accordance with company policies.
- Promote employee engagement through initiatives focused on culture, continuous improvement, team development, and staff empowerment.
- Coordinate culture and Corporate Social Investment initiatives.
- Advise and collaborate with line management to drive performance management processes.
- Negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage employee relations, including implementation of the company’s code of conduct, handling CCMA conciliations/arbitrations, and providing IR-related guidance to management and employees.
- Address and resolve HR-related staff inquiries.
- Participate in HR and ad hoc projects, assisting with related tasks as requested by management.
- Maintain HR systems, including capturing employee data in the SAGE 300 People system and managing employee files.
- Generate and provide HR and performance management reports and statistics.
- Monitor performance management and provide relevant reports.
- Administer HR systems and records.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric and a tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- 2-3 years of experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a retail environment.
- Alignment with SPAR values—Passion, Family, Entrepreneurship.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work weekends or after hours to meet business objectives when required.
- Strong organizational skills, self-driven with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
