Job Summary:
The Recruitment Guy is looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner / Practitioner with mining or construction sector experience to join a dynamic team in Richards Bay. This is a mid-management role, reporting to the Site Manager and National Group HR Manager.
Key Requirements:
- Only candidates with mining or construction HR experience and matching the duties below will be considered.
- Applications not meeting the criteria will automatically be deemed unsuccessful within 2 weeks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Support:
- Provide generalist HR support to align with company goals.
- Assist management with labour relations and policy implementation.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and internal policies.
Labour & Employee Relations:
- Facilitate collective negotiations and dispute resolutions.
- Engage with management, employees, trade unions, and statutory bodies (e.g., DOL, CCMA).
- Advise on employment legislation, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment (job ads, interviews, reference checks).
- Conduct onboarding, inductions, and employment confirmations.
Payroll & HR Administration:
- Oversee payroll processes (overtime, leave, garnishee orders).
- Handle provident fund and medical aid updates.
- Ensure accurate HR documentation and record-keeping.
Training & Development:
- Facilitate labour law training for employees and management.
- Coordinate training with external providers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NQF Level 5 (or higher) in HR or related field.
- Grade 12.
- APSO accreditation (or similar) preferred.
Essential Experience:
- 3+ years in union negotiations.
- 3-5 years in a similar role (mining/construction HRBP).
- Advanced MS Excel/Word, payroll knowledge, and labour law expertise.
- Valid driver’s license & own transport.
- Must reside in Richards Bay or nearby.

- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
- Ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and ethical standards.
