An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Homeware department for a motivated, innovative, and resourceful Homeware Buyer. The ideal candidate will play a key role in trending, sourcing, and procuring Homeware merchandise. This role requires someone who can contribute to the achievement of departmental and business goals, and who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and prepare product ranges in alignment with business objectives.
• Execute ranges while ensuring they meet business targets and goals.
• Present range reviews and provide insights.
• Manage product development processes.
• Source new suppliers and products to enhance the Homeware offering.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to secure favourable terms.
• Collaborate effectively with relevant stakeholders and departments.
• Oversee product quality and suitability for the market.
• Manage sample stock efficiently.
• Perform general buying administrative tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of retail merchandise buying experience.
• Experience in the Homeware retail environment is essential.
• Solid understanding of the retail cycle, merchandise buying principles, and processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Competencies
• Proven negotiation and presentation skills.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent eye for selecting quality and on-trend products.
