Job Description:
The Home Meal Replacements Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the hot meal department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals, excellent customer service, and strong financial performance. This role oversees food preparation, inventory management, staff supervision, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Supervise the preparation of hot meals, ensuring they meet store recipes, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed, minimizing waste and ensuring consistent supply.
  • Quality Control: Perform regular checks to ensure meals meet standards for taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service, resolve customer complaints, and ensure a positive shopping experience in the HMR department.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines, food handling protocols, and proper sanitation practices.
  • Sales and Promotion: Develop strategies to drive sales, create appealing displays, and promote meal offerings through promotions and customer feedback.
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate with management to plan and update the HMR menu based on seasonal availability, customer preferences, and cost efficiency.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Monitor expenses related to labor, ingredients, and supplies, implementing cost-saving measures to maximize profitability.
  • Training and Development: Provide training for staff on culinary skills, product knowledge, and customer service, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, marketing, and store management to achieve overall business goals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent required
  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant field is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, inventory management, and costing
  • Experience working in a food department within a retail environment

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Strong foundation in culinary techniques, including cooking methods, flavor profiles, and food presentation
