Sanlam Investments: Retail is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Positioning to lead our market positioning strategy. In this role, you will play a key part in defining and executing strategies that position Sanlam’s products and services to meet customer needs and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. The position will primarily focus on Sanlam Investment Management, Satrix, and Amplify Investment Partners.
What Will You Do?
As the Head of Positioning, your key responsibilities will include:
- Market Analysis and Research: Conduct in-depth research to identify market trends, customer preferences, and the competitive landscape. Use these insights to guide and shape our positioning strategies.
- Positioning Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies that differentiate Sanlam Investments: Retail in the market. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- Brand Positioning: Define and communicate the brand positioning in a clear and compelling manner. Ensure consistent messaging across all channels and customer touchpoints.
- Product Positioning: Collaborate with product management teams to ensure effective positioning of products and services. Develop value propositions and messaging frameworks that resonate with target customers.
- Competitive Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyze competitor positioning strategies. Identify opportunities and risks, providing recommendations to maintain our competitive edge.
- Marketing Collateral: Oversee the creation of marketing materials such as website content, sales presentations, and promotional assets, to support and enhance the positioning strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, product development, and senior leadership teams to execute and align marketing and positioning strategies with business objectives. Foster collaboration to drive success and achieve goals.
What Will Make You Successful in This Role?
- Experience: 6-8 years in strategic marketing or product management, with a proven track record in developing and executing positioning strategies.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of multi-manager and distribution dynamics. A background in multi-manager products is advantageous.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into actionable positioning strategies.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a collaborative environment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly and persuasively presenting complex ideas and strategies.
- Education: A post-graduate degree in Investment Management or equivalent is preferred; Master’s degree is highly desirable.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma with 6-8 years of related experience in strategic marketing, product management, or brand positioning.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Expertise in consumer insights, market research, and trend analysis (locally and globally).
- Strong reporting, administration, and solutions orientation.
- Experience in brand engagement and development.
