Head of Commercial Excellence – MNA Recruitment
A leading global pharmaceutical company is seeking a Head of Commercial Excellence to drive commercial operations across South Africa and Export Markets, ensuring the achievement of Gross and Net Sales targets while upholding ethical and sustainable business practices.
This strategic leadership role involves setting the commercial agenda, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring seamless execution across Sales, Key Accounts, Marketing, Supply Chain, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory, and Quality. The successful candidate will be pivotal in eliminating silos, driving profitable growth, and ensuring end-to-end accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and align commercial teams to deliver sales, profitability, and market share objectives.
- Oversee Heads of Key Accounts, National Sales Manager, and Commercial Excellence leaders.
- Execute strategic sales and marketing plans across all customer segments.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to enhance accountability and efficiency.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking for commercial operations.
- Optimize Gross to Net strategy for sustainable revenue growth.
- Promote a data-driven culture, leveraging BI, market insights, and CRM analytics.
- Develop high-performing teams through mentorship, leadership, and talent growth.
- Represent commercial strategy in executive leadership discussions.
- Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, corporate governance, and ethical standards.
- Drive commercial readiness for new product launches, portfolio transitions, and market expansions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Commerce (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with 5+ years in a senior commercial leadership role.
- Proven success in strategic account management and P&L oversight.
- Deep knowledge of sales, marketing, and regulatory compliance in healthcare.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and team leadership expertise.
- Proficiency in revenue growth strategies, trade investments, and promotional planning.
- Experience managing diverse teams within complex organizational structures.
- Familiarity with retail dynamics (Clicks, Dis-Chem, Shoprite, etc.), pricing models, and trade terms.
- Expertise in IQVIA/IRI data, forecasting, ROI analysis, and P&L impact assessment.
- Knowledge of route-to-market strategies, e-commerce, and omnichannel retail.
- Experience in key account negotiations, business development, and digital transformation.
- Leadership presence, analytical agility, and a results-driven mindset.
