Food Lovers Market is looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Grocery General Assistant to join our team. As a General Assistant, you will play an essential role in ensuring our customers enjoy a smooth and pleasant shopping experience. You will assist customers in locating products, answering questions, processing payments, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. Your friendly and helpful attitude will be crucial in providing excellent customer service and enhancing the overall shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Grocery General Assistant, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Assist customers by providing accurate product information and offering guidance in choosing items.
- Solve customer problems and ensure customers are satisfied with the service provided.
- Greet customers warmly, offer assistance, and answer questions with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Inform customers about ongoing sales and special offers to enhance their shopping experience.
- Handle cash and card payments, issue receipts, and correctly process refunds and exchanges.
- Receive product deliveries, organize stock, and maintain accurate inventory.
- Neatly arrange products on shelves and ensure that shelves are always stocked with available items.
- Quickly restock products that have sold out and ensure store layout remains organized.
- Dispose of store and storeroom waste responsibly and keep the store clean.
- Assist with stock takes and inventory checks.
- Adhere to all safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness in designated areas such as the storeroom and kitchen.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Fluent in English.
- Reside within 25 km of the store location.
- Clear criminal record.
Preferences
While not required, the following experience will be considered an advantage:
- Previous experience working in a customer-facing role or as part of a team.
- Experience with stock takes and inventory management.
