About the Role
We are seeking a General Worker to support our Maintenance Team in ensuring equipment sustainability and reliability. The role involves providing welding, fitting, or electrical assistance and supporting the Directional Drilling Team. This position requires adherence to safety procedures and the efficient utilization of available resources to maintain operational stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks on mining equipment using the flux core method and other welding techniques.
- Operate welding equipment safely and comply with gas safety rules when using oxy-fuel cutting equipment.
- Assist with operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment in line with safe working procedures.
- Conduct visual inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards and report unsafe conditions.
- Complete job-specific tasks and checklists accurately.
- Maintain housekeeping standards by following SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and COPs (Code of Practices).
- Collaborate with the team to achieve operational goals and meet deadlines.
- Report task activities, identify hazards, and conduct task risk assessments.
- Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments.
- Identify abnormal conditions, report them promptly, and act on cost-saving initiatives.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/N3/NCV Level 4 or equivalent (Maths and Science advantageous).
- Valid driver’s license (minimum Code 08).
- Ability to obtain a medical certificate of fitness.
- First Aid Certificate (advantageous).
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- 12 months of welding experience.
- Ability to operate an angle grinder and cutting torch safely.
- Knowledge of underground machinery (e.g., Shuttle Car, Roof Bolter, Crushers, Feeder Breaker).
- 12 months of plant experience (advantageous).
- Experience using MIG welding equipment (advantageous).
- Familiarity with safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and the Mine Health and Safety Act.
