Job Overview:
We are seeking a hardworking and customer-focused General Assistant (Fish Department) to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Fish Department, ensuring customers receive top-quality service, fresh products, and a pleasant shopping experience. Your role will also involve maintaining a clean and organized fish counter while adhering to health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
As a General Assistant (Fish Department), your responsibilities will include:
- Providing customers with accurate information about the fish products, helping them make selections, and answering any queries.
- Assisting customers with their purchases, handling questions, and delivering excellent service with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Highlighting special offers and promotions to enhance the customer shopping experience.
- Receiving deliveries, ensuring proper storage of fish products, and rotating stock to maintain freshness.
- Arranging and replenishing fish products on display to ensure items are available and presented attractively.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the fish counter, work areas, and storeroom.
- Disposing of waste properly and ensuring adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Assisting with regular stock takes and reporting discrepancies or low stock levels to management.
- Processing payments accurately and handling refunds or exchanges when necessary.
- Following company safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures.
Requirements:
To be considered for the role of General Assistant (Fish Department), you will need:
- A Matric certificate.
- Previous experience as a General Assistant or in a customer-facing role.
- Good communication skills in English.
- A clean criminal record.
- Residence within 15km of the job location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- South African candidates are preferred.
- Experience in a food retail or seafood environment will be an advantage.
