Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated and friendly General Assistant to join our team at Food Lovers Market. As a General Assistant, you will play a key role in enhancing the shopping experience for our customers by offering excellent customer service, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring products are well-stocked and organized. Your helpful and positive attitude will contribute to the overall success of the store.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate product information and assist customers with locating items.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Greet customers warmly and offer assistance throughout their shopping experience.
  • Inform customers about promotions, sales, and special offers.
  • Handle cash, card payments, and refunds accurately.
  • Receive and organize stock deliveries, ensuring products are neatly displayed and easy to find.
  • Restock shelves promptly to maintain product availability.
  • Dispose of store and storeroom waste correctly, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with inventory counts and stock take procedures.
  • Adhere to safety, security, and environmental policies, and follow emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Keep designated areas, such as the storeroom and kitchen, clean and orderly.

Requirements:

  • Matric certificate.
  • Experience as a General Assistant, General Worker, or Forklift Operator is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must reside within 20km of the store.
  • Clear criminal record.

Preferences:
While meeting these preferences is a plus, it is not required to be considered for the position:

  • South African citizenship.
