An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Garment Technologist within our Design Division. We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and hardworking team player who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to learn and take on challenges. The role will be based at our Head Office in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality control of goods manufactured at CMTs and service providers, including cutting, printing, embroidery, pleating, and finishing services.

  • Liaise with Design Division Garment Technologists to resolve quality issues.

  • Collaborate with Design Division technical teams, operations managers, and planners.

  • Generate AQL and S4 reports, tracking and addressing quality issues at the factory.

  • Implement action plans and provide training/mentoring for quality improvement.

  • Provide daily reports to Head Office.

  • Manage priority workloads, appointments, and schedules.

  • Lead fit sessions from the initial sample to final production.

  • Communicate clear and concise fit comments to suppliers or factories.

  • Work closely with the Sample Room (Pattern Makers and Technical Manager) on the fit development process from a technical perspective.

  • Support CMT onboarding and mentoring to meet technical standards.

  • Manage CMTs to ensure adherence to quality standards, construction methods, and AQLs.

  • Stay updated on current regulations, legislation, and standards related to clothing manufacture.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a Quality Assurance role.

  • Minimum of three (3) years in a similar position or level of responsibility.

  • Pattern making experience is advantageous.

  • Background in clothing manufacturing in a factory environment.

  • Solid knowledge of garment construction, fabric, trims, and embroidery.

  • Involvement in drafting and implementing QA standards manuals.

  • Ability to handle quality queries with CMTs.

  • Willingness to travel to suppliers’ manufacturing facilities (valid code 8 driver’s license required).

  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Excel.

  • Understanding of manufacturing workflow and quality management systems.

  • Expertise in garment construction across a broad product spectrum.

  • Working knowledge of patterns and grading.

  • Solution-driven with proactive problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively report quality problems using appropriate methods (reporting and photographic).

  • Skilled at managing conflict situations.

  • Attention to detail with high energy and drive.

  • AQL knowledge and IT competence (Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word).

  • Service-oriented and results-driven.

  • Independent and able to provide constructive feedback.
