Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated Fruit and Veg General Assistant to join our team at Food Lovers Market. As a key member of the Fruit and Veg section, you will ensure that customers have an exceptional shopping experience by maintaining a well-organized and fully stocked department. Your role will involve assisting customers, managing product displays, and ensuring a clean and inviting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers by providing product information and helping them find items in the Fruit and Veg section.
- Ensure that all products are neatly displayed, fresh, and fully stocked.
- Restock items promptly and rotate stock to maintain freshness.
- Promote sales by informing customers of special offers and promotions.
- Handle cash and card payments, issue receipts, and manage refunds and exchanges accurately when needed.
- Assist in receiving deliveries, organizing stock, and conducting regular stock takes.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic department, including shelves, display units, and storage areas.
- Properly dispose of waste from the department and ensure cleanliness of designated areas.
- Follow all safety, security, and hygiene procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Support other team members and assist in different areas as needed.
Requirements:
- Matric certificate.
- Experience as a General Assistant or General Worker, ideally in a retail or customer-facing role.
- Fluent in English.
- Clear criminal record.
- Reside within 15km of the store location.
Preferences:
- South African candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous.
