DisChem Vacancies – Frontshop Assistants-Cascades

providing customer service at the point of sale in line with company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
  • 0 – 6 months of retail work experience

Advantageous:

  • One year of retail work experience
  • Certification in Retail Business Management

Responsibilities

  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and neatly arranged at all times.
  • Maintain stock quality and monitor sell-by dates.
  • Restock merchandise when needed to optimize sales.
  • Follow up on out-of-stock customer queries in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure delivered stock and items pulled from the storeroom are stored correctly.
  • Maintain accurate merchandise displays, labels, and pricing, reporting discrepancies to management.
  • Keep the storeroom organized and tidy.
  • Stay updated on new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Assist with back shopping and stock replenishment when required.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
  • Process all transactions accurately, including cash, card, vouchers, and other payments.
  • Manage returns and exchanges as authorized by the Frontshop Leader.
  • Process loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash according to standard operating procedures.
  • Approve and document price changes, line voids, and refunds.
  • Monitor stock rotation and adhere to Dis-Chem stock control procedures.
  • Report low stock, damaged goods, and expired products to management.
  • Assist with stocktaking and counting of stock files.
  • Load and offload stock as needed.
  • Flatten and dispose of boxes after unpacking stock.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service and assist with inquiries.
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
  • Adhere to the required customer turnover rate per hour.
  • Assist with training new and existing team members.
  • Ensure all outgoing stock, items, and prescriptions are properly scanned and paid for.
  • Secure daily cash takings and follow company cash-handling procedures.
  • Report suspicious behavior among staff or customers to management.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards according to company requirements.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s policies, health and safety regulations, and uniform guidelines.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of retail operations and administration
  • Problem-solving and escalation skills
  • Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong verbal communication
  • Ability to address customer inquiries promptly
  • Understanding of standard procedures and compliance
  • Accountability and ability to work with minimal supervision

Advantageous:

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • SAP knowledge
  • Strong numerical skills

Special Conditions of Employment
