Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to create and manage floor plans, compile equipment requirements for new and revamped stores, and propose space changes for existing stores. The Floor Planner will allocate appropriate categories and space based on the clientele profile, anticipated performance, and within prescribed templates and flow parameters.

Job Objectives:

• Apply macro merchandise proposals to new and revamped stores.

• Facilitate the compilation of equipment and aisle sign requirements for new and revamped stores.

• Analyze and understand the dominant clientele for each proposed store.

• Assist in the ongoing process of reallocating space on existing store plans to support strategic changes.

• Interpret store performance data per category and make informed space allocation decisions to maximize profitability.

• Apply correct flow and adjacencies to each store plan to align with the prescribed Chain Store image and strategic navigation.

• Record allocated space on each store plan for future reference, planning, and communication.

• Communicate store plan proposals to all required stakeholders.

• Allocate the actual assortment onto the floor plan.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

Job Knowledge:

• Essential: Strong knowledge of consumer shopping habits, competitor activity, and market players in the Health and Beauty retail sector, including consumer demographics and retail merchandising.

• Desirable: General understanding of category adjacencies within the Health, Wellness, and Beauty sectors.

Job-Related Skills:

• Essential: Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel (intermediate level).

• Desirable: Basic knowledge of Blue Yonder CatMan Floor Planning application and CAD, experience with space planning software, puzzle building ability, conceptual and spatial understanding, and the ability to visualize plans. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Job Experience:

• Essential: 2-3 years’ experience in store operations management or shop floor merchandise planning.

• Desirable: Experience with basic store design using CAD and Blue Yonder CatMan, visual merchandising, space planning, and client marketing experience with an FMCG supplier.

Education:

• Essential: Matric.

• Desirable: An appropriate retail tertiary diploma or degree.
