Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Fleet Controller to join their Distribution Centre in Midrand. The role involves monitoring driver and vehicle behavior, identifying potential security risks, and ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of Dis-Chem stock.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate
  • PSIRA Registered
  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in fleet control using a vehicle tracking system

Advantageous:

  • Certificate in Logistics/Supply Chain
  • PSIRA Grade B accreditation

Responsibilities

Fleet Tracking:

  • Monitor Dis-Chem vehicles using a web-based tracking system to prevent losses.
  • Ensure adherence to delivery schedules and follow up on vehicle standing times.
  • Track and report vehicle movements, including unauthorized stops and deviations.
  • Conduct route audits and inspections based on driver debriefs.
  • Identify and report faulty tracking units or system issues.
  • Monitor fuel usage and identify risk areas.
  • Respond to potential hijacking situations and coordinate with tracking companies and response teams.
  • Track and report excessive speeding violations to the Dispatch Manager.
  • Maintain detailed occurrence records in the OB (Occurrence Book) and online system.

Risk Control:

  • Investigate route deviations and unauthorized vehicle stoppages.
  • Work with stakeholders to determine optimal delivery routes.
  • Investigate employee transgressions and report findings.
  • Conduct security and equipment health checks on vehicles.

Communication:

  • Ensure drivers comply with security protocols to minimize cargo risks.
  • In case of accidents or emergencies, alert relevant departments (maintenance, admin, insurance, ambulance, SAPS) and provide timely updates to management and clients.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to management for resolution.

General Duties:

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.
