PepsiCo Vacancies – Fitter – Ceres Beverages Plant

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Fitter to join our team at the Ceres Beverages Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring optimal production efficiency. You will play a key role in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Repair, install, and test mechanical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
    • Diagnose and perform maintenance on process, packaging, and palletizing machinery.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on various mechanical systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mechanical equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, valves, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
    • Collaborate with Control System and Mechanical Specialists for equipment optimization.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Support equipment reliability and food safety initiatives.
    • Track and document continuous improvement (CI) activities.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering maintenance plans and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Complete job cards and parts requisition documents to minimize repair time and improve plant availability.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Possess comprehensive knowledge of tools, methods, and equipment used in mechanical repair and diagnosis.
  • Safety:
    • Follow all occupational safety and health regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Behaviour and Skills:
    • Self-starter with innovative problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong analytical skills for resolving mechanical breakdowns.
    • Able to endure long hours and perform physically demanding tasks.
    • Must be a team player and flexible to work shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified/trade tested fitter.
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and maintenance software (CMMS Systems – SAP, On Key, JD Edwards, etc.).
