Positions are available for Firefighters within the Fidelity Group to respond to and handle various fire-related incidents in Worcester and surrounding areas.
The main responsibilities include responding to fire incidents, conducting firefighting operations, providing emergency rescue services, offering basic medical care, engaging in fire prevention activities, and training exercises. Additionally, the role involves the operation and maintenance of firefighting equipment and apparatus, all aimed at protecting the lives and property of Fidelity Group clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to fire incidents, rescues, and related emergency/non-emergency humanitarian incidents.
- Handling incidents involving hazardous materials.
- Extricating or releasing casualties and carrying out emergency operations under the direction of superiors.
- Resuscitating and treating injured individuals as directed by authority.
- Operating firefighting equipment to control, manage, and extinguish fires.
- Undertaking fire protection duties in situations that threaten lives or property, using the required equipment as directed by supervisors.
- Preparing for emergency incidents and protection duties under the guidance of senior officers.
- Participating in training drills, physical fitness exercises, and simulation activities as directed.
- Training relevant employees in the theory and practical aspects of firefighting.
- Advising on fire prevention measures and corrective actions.
- Implementing strategies and using appropriate equipment to protect data, people, and property.
- Performing basic maintenance on equipment to ensure readiness for use.
- Checking, cleaning, and testing firefighting vehicles and equipment.
- Maintaining computerized logs of daily occurrences for proper documentation.
- Conducting health and safety inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
- Completing necessary documentation and attending Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Driving and operating specialized vehicles and machinery during emergency incidents.
- Ensuring fire apparatus and emergency equipment are safely operated to save lives and property.
- Assisting with fire safety training, inspections, and life safety education.
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations during shifts, including safety inspections, proper protective clothing use, and adherence to policies for personal safety and loss prevention.
- Maintaining equipment according to prescribed schedules and making repairs as necessary.
- Completing shift-related administrative duties, ensuring efficiency and proper record-keeping.
- Undertaking supervisory and functional personnel responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of Grade 12 school qualification.
- IFSAC Accreditation.
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 certification.
- Firefighter II Certification.
- At least 2-3 years of firefighting training and relevant experience.
- Valid code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
- Advanced driving experience is advantageous.
- Medically and physically fit.
- Strong understanding of fire prevention practices.
- Knowledge of fire-fighting systems and fire chemistry.
- Clear criminal record.
- Ability to respond promptly to emergency situations.
- Required administrative, interpersonal communication, and customer liaison skills.
- Essential Hazmat experience and knowledge.
- EMT certification and First Aid levels 1-3.
