Fidelity Vacancies – Firefighter-Somerset West

Fidelity Group is seeking qualified and experienced Firefighters to join our team in Somerset West. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to and managing fire-related incidents, providing emergency rescue services, rendering basic medical care, and ensuring fire prevention through training and equipment management. The role includes maintaining firefighting apparatus and related equipment to protect lives and property.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire incidents, rescues, and other emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Handle incidents involving hazardous substances.
  • Extricate casualties and carry out emergency operations as directed.
  • Provide resuscitation and treatment to injured persons.
  • Operate firefighting equipment to control, manage, and extinguish fires.
  • Undertake fire protection duties and ensure the availability of appropriate equipment as directed.
  • Prepare for emergency incidents under the guidance and supervision of senior staff.
  • Participate in training drills, simulations, and physical fitness activities.
  • Train employees on firefighting practices and procedures.
  • Advise on fire prevention and corrective actions.
  • Implement procedures to promote local or national security activities and protect property and people.
  • Perform routine maintenance on firefighting equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conduct safety inspections to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Maintain accurate computerized logs of daily occurrences.
  • Drive and operate specialized firefighting vehicles and machinery during incidents.
  • Ensure fire apparatus and emergency equipment are safely operated to protect lives and property.
  • Assist with fire safety training, inspections, and education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by conducting safety inspections and maintaining protective clothing standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • IFSAC Accredited.
  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification.
  • At least 2–3 years of firefighting experience.
  • Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.
  • Advanced driving experience is an advantage.
  • Medically and physically fit.
  • Strong understanding of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Hazmat experience is essential.
  • EMT certification and First Aid levels 1 to 3.

  • Knowledge of the Security Industry and adherence to the group’s code of conduct.
  • Ability to act in emergency situations with efficiency and urgency.
  • Solid administrative, interpersonal, and customer liaison skills.
