Armscor Vacancies – Financial Officer

Financial Officer This role also includes overseeing property, plant, and equipment management in line with the Armscor Group’s practices and procedures.

Critical Performance Areas:

  • Accurately capture creditors transactions, including matching purchase orders to invoices, and ensuring timely payments within 30 days.
  • Record commercial sales transactions and issue sales quotations as per approved tariffs and Armscor policies.
  • Manage debtors’ collections and ensure adherence to Armscor policies.
  • Capture inventory transactions, including counting results and spot checks during inventory counts.
  • Record fixed asset transactions, including asset addition, barcoding, and conducting annual assessments of asset useful life.
  • Support the Finance Manager in establishing and reviewing credit facilities for new and existing clients.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for assets, creditors, debtors, bank, petty cash, fleet cards, and loan accounts, and conduct month-end closures.
  • Verify VAT compliance on tax invoices and process payments if invoices and supporting documents are correct.
  • Review subsistence and travel claims, petty cash forms, and reimbursements.
  • Plan daily cash flow, report on cash flow requirements, and manage moderately complex accounting activities related to fund flow monitoring.
  • Capture transactions to update other modules (Debtors, Creditors, General Ledger) at month-end.
  • Reconcile petty cash balances, fuel fleet card payments, and cash receipts, and replenish petty cash and fuel cards as necessary.
  • Capture bank statement transactions on Accpac.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to handle queries and provide information.
  • Assist with insurance matters and perform ad hoc insurance activities.
  • Stand in for colleagues as needed and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Capture loan account transactions on the Accpac System.
  • File petty cash reimbursements, fleet card transactions, and travel documents.

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma in Accounting/Commerce

Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a finance-related environment

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (PFMA, VAT Act)
  • Familiarity with financial systems (e.g., Accpac)
  • Proficiency in cashbook processing and reconciliations
  • Understanding of petty cash handling and replenishment processes
