Pick n Pay Careers – Finance Manager – Kenilworth – Cape Town
Join Pick n Pay as a Finance Manager and play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Retail and Head of Fresh to enhance the financial health of our Retail and Fresh Operating Divisions. This role is key to driving financial efficiency, guiding strategic decision-making, and promoting financial literacy across the organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- BCom/Hons Degree in Financial/Management Accounting (CA (SA) is advantageous)
- 3+ years of experience in a Retail Finance environment with expertise in Financial Modelling, Reporting Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Meat industry experience is a plus
- Proficiency in SAP, Sage Evolution, and Meat Matrix is advantageous
- 1-2 years’ experience in Management Accounts and 1 year in Financial Planning & Reporting are essential

- Financial Analysis: Ability to assess financial health, interpret data, and support strategic financial performance
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong grasp of financial reporting requirements and principles
- Risk Management: Skilled in identifying, assessing, and managing financial risks
- Data Management: Proficient in financial tools such as SAP, BBP, and Analysis for Office
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to convey ideas clearly
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and accountability
- Team Leadership: Ability to collaborate, negotiate, and manage cross-functional teams effectively
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Guidance and Support
- Provide finance support to drive profitability and cost efficiencies across the Retail and Fresh divisions
- Educate team members on financial concepts, monitor financial health, and optimize the operating model
- Align financial strategies with business objectives, supporting the long-term growth and success of the retail division
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify trends, and evaluate variances against budgets and forecasts
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, including daily, weekly, and monthly updates
- Generate insights through data analysis to support strategic decision-making within the retail division
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead or contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring progress and tracking against targets
- Develop KPIs and metrics to measure financial performance and guide improvement planning
Collaboration and Strategic Support
- Work closely with Retail and Fresh leadership to align financial objectives with the division’s strategic intent
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential financial challenges, optimize expenses, and support revenue growth
- Act as Risk Manager for the Operating Region, overseeing risk management, audit queries, and insurance claims
Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization
- Identify opportunities for process improvements between Finance and Operations to enhance service delivery
- Support retail finance executives in integrating finance solutions that drive new business support services
- Facilitate audit resolutions and implement improvements in response to financial audit findings
