Pepkor Vacancies – Finance Manager – Cape Town
Purpose of the Position:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of accounting and managing the financial reporting of PEP Africa’s subsidiaries. Additionally, you will oversee end-to-end project management of financial-related projects, while providing advice and support to management to facilitate informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide input and support the implementation of the finance strategy aligned with the annual business strategy.

Communicate and execute subsequent action plans, including specifications, timelines, and budgets.

Team Management:

Establish clear, specific, and measurable objectives for the team, driving delivery and contribution.

Motivate, inspire, and build team morale by recognizing and celebrating successes.

Management Accounts and Statutory Reporting:
-
Manage key financial processes such as CEO reports, Pepkor reports, new accounting standards, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts.

Manage various reports, including store income statements, cellfin, and Exco reports/presentations.

Treasury Management:
-
Manage all banking relationships, systems, and payments for PEP Africa.

Oversee store deposits and card transactions for stores across African countries.

Stock and GP’s:
-
Ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory entries (CFH, FMCG, and Cellular).

Monitor and analyze effective Gross Profit % and review inventory export and import entries.

Compliance Management:
-
Ensure compliance with South African Reserve and other relevant legislation (including VAT) regarding imports and exports.

Monitor compliance with local in-country (Africa) central bank legislation and support Country Financial Managers to ensure adherence.

Policies and Procedures:

Maintain standard Treasury policies, including cash balances, counterparty risk, and repatriation priorities.

Tax Management:

Ensure timely submission and payment of VAT, PAYE, Tax, etc.
-
Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of tax in line with IFRS and/or local GAAP.

Ad Hoc Tasks and Projects:

Participate in ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.

Job Incumbent Requirements:
-
Qualified CA (SA).
-
5+ years of experience in a finance environment (with at least 3 years of audit management experience).

3+ years of leadership/management experience (preferred).
-
Retail industry experience is advantageous.

Knowledge of financial control environment and governance.
-
Understanding of the business, industry, and economic environment.
-
Familiarity with accounting for foreign currencies and consolidation is desirable.
-
Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, Google Suite, and financial systems).
-
Willingness to travel to Africa on an ad hoc basis.
-
South African citizen.
