Pepkor Vacancies – FINANCE MANAGER – Cape Town – Western Cape
Purpose of the Position: The Finance Manager will ensure the reliability of accounting and manage the financial reporting of PEP Africa’s subsidiaries, overseeing the end-to-end project management of finance-related projects. The role will also involve providing advice and support to management to enable informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Contribution to Strategy:

Provide input and support the implementation of the finance strategy aligned with the annual business strategy.

Communicate and execute action plans, including specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Team Management:

Establish clear, specific, and measurable objectives for the team.

Drive team performance and contribution, motivating, inspiring, and building team morale by recognizing and celebrating successes.
Management Accounts and Statutory Reporting:

Manage key financial processes such as CEO Reports, Pepkor Reports, new accounting standards, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and annual audits.

Oversee various reports, including store income statements, cellfin, Exco reports, and presentations.
Treasury Management:

Manage all banking relationships, systems, and payments for PEP Africa.

Handle all store deposits and card transactions for stores across African countries.
Stock and Gross Profit Management:

Ensure accurate and timely recording and analysis of inventory entries (CFH, FMCG, and Cellular), monitoring effective Gross Profit %.

Review and reconcile inventory export and import entries.
Compliance Management:

Ensure compliance with the South African Reserve Bank and relevant legislation, including VAT acts, concerning imports and exports.

Monitor compliance with local in-country (African) central bank legislation, supporting country financial managers to ensure compliance.
Policies and Procedures:

Maintain standardized treasury policies and procedures, including minimum cash balances, counterparty risk, and repatriation priorities.
Tax Management:

Ensure timely submission and payment of various returns (VAT, PAYE, Tax, etc.).

Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of tax in line with IFRS or local GAAP.
Ad Hoc Tasks and Involvement in Projects:

Perform additional tasks and contribute to various projects as required.
Job Incumbent Requirements

Qualified CA (SA).
-
5+ years of experience in the finance environment (with at least 3 years of audit management experience).

3 years of leadership/management experience (advantageous).

Retail industry experience is beneficial.

Strong knowledge of financial control and governance.

Understanding of the business, industry, and economic environment.

Knowledge of accounting for foreign currencies and consolidation is desirable.
-
Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, Google Suite, and financial systems).
-
Willingness to travel to Africa on an ad-hoc basis.
-
South African citizenship.
