The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in protecting and growing profitable market share while ensuring operational excellence. This role involves assisting with store management, customer service, asset control, financial oversight, and team leadership in alignment with company strategies.
Requirements:

Grade 12 with at least two years of retail management experience

Valid driver’s license
-
Valid ID or work permit (local)
-
Strong accounting and administrative skills
-
Ability to work under pressure
-
Basic computer literacy
-
Strong leadership and human resource management skills
-
Own transport and cell phone
-
Knowledge of health and safety regulations (OHSA or applicable legislation)
Operational Responsibilities:
-
Assist the Store Manager in addressing non-compliance issues
-
Support the management of damaged, obsolete, and slow-moving stock
-
Contribute to the development and execution of the store business plan
-
Help drive market share growth and achieve sales objectives
-
Implement and monitor customer service strategies
-
Maintain customer audit scores above 95%
-
Support the management of stock movement, including shrinkage control and inventory processes
-
Oversee cash management, including banking, petty cash, and credit transactions
-
Ensure proper maintenance and protection of store assets, including equipment and infrastructure
-
Assist in recruitment, training, and career development of employees
-
Promote open communication and effective employee relations
Store Standards and Compliance:
-
Support adherence to safety regulations and reporting of incidents
-
Maintain housekeeping, merchandising, and yard/parking area standards
-
Achieve operational income targets and financial benchmarks
-
Ensure compliance with internal audits and company policies
-
Implement corrective actions when necessary
Leadership and Performance Management:

Establish clear objectives and motivate employees to achieve them

Provide direction, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members
-
Drive performance improvement and goal achievement
-
Identify and resolve operational issues proactively
-
Make informed decisions within company guidelines and ensure timely execution

Plan resource allocation and workflow to maximize efficiency
