Dischem Vacancies – Employee Relations Manager
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our Head Office in KwaZulu-Natal. This role requires providing expert labor relations advice to management, supervisors, and employees, while promoting the department’s visibility to fulfill the vision and mission of the Labour Relations department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Qualification in Human Resources Management
- 3-5 years of experience in Employee Relations as a generalist
- Advantageous:
- Postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management, Labour Relations, or Industrial Psychology
- Experience in retail or FMCG industry as an Employee Relations Generalist
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise the business on best practices in Employee Relations and ensure compliance with applicable labor legislation.
- Keep business units informed about labor legislation changes, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and agreements.
- Prepare and present solutions to minimize risks, including management reports and benchmarking statistics.
- Conduct research and stay updated on new or revised labor legislation.
- Investigate the financial and other implications of legislative changes in consultation with the Group Employee Relations Manager.
- Offer day-to-day HR/IR advice to managers, directors, and employees while maintaining confidentiality.
- Chair disciplinary hearings and represent the company at the CCMA for various hearings and conciliations.
- Handle internal grievances, incapacity investigations, and retrenchment procedures.
- Draft and review agreements related to employee or union-related matters.
- Lead training sessions and develop courses on Industrial Relations, CCMA preparation, and Department of Labour inspections.
- Formulate and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Draft and interpret written correspondence and statistical reports.
Competencies and Skills:
- Essential:
- Knowledge of labor laws, including LRA, BCEA, SDLA, OHSA, COIDA, UIA, UI Contribution Act, SDA, and EEA.
- Strong command of English (read, write, speak).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle conflicts and build strong relationships.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Advantageous:
- Knowledge of a second language.
- Ability to effectively facilitate training sessions.
