Job Description
The Electronics Technician will be responsible for providing hands-on maintenance support to ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems. This role involves conducting problem-solving activities, maintaining electrical equipment, and performing routine maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will be self-managed, reliable, and possess a diverse skill set, including experience with PLC, automation processes, and preventative maintenance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Distribution Centre (DC).

  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential issues.

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of electrical systems.

  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime.

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.

  • Collaborate with other departments to address electrical-related issues and support ongoing operations.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Provide feedback on breakdowns and assist with problem resolution.

  • Provide overtime support when required.

  • Manage stock and critical spares inventory.

  • Adhere to safe working procedures and maintain proper housekeeping.

  • Perform inspections of various Health & Safety (H&S) required registers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 3 years of technical or maintenance experience with strong knowledge of conveyors and motors.

  • Red Seal trade test certificate.

  • Minimum NQF Level 3 qualification.

  • PLC knowledge and programming experience.

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certification in electrical engineering or a related field.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring diagrams.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical problems and performing repairs.

  • Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with colleagues and management.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations as needed.
