Value Vacancies – Driver Trainer

Value is looking for an experienced and dedicated Driver Trainer to lead training initiatives aimed at enhancing driver safety, compliance, and operational excellence. The Driver Trainer will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical training sessions, assessing driving skills, and ensuring drivers consistently meet the company’s performance and safety standards.

This role includes conducting route assessments, coaching sessions, and regular evaluations of driver behavior and competence. The Driver Trainer will also play a key part in maintaining training records, supporting compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating accredited training in line with TETA standards.

Key responsibilities include assessing new and existing drivers, conducting training on soft skills and lifting equipment, and ensuring all training activities are communicated, scheduled, and implemented effectively. The Driver Trainer is also expected to support operational needs such as vehicle inspections, dispatch assistance, and on-route assessments, while upholding health, safety, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess driver performance and identify areas for improvement

  • Conduct structured training sessions and coaching in line with company schedules

  • Facilitate soft skills and equipment-related training interventions

  • Ensure all driver qualifications, including licenses and PrDPs, are valid and updated

  • Maintain accurate training records, registers, and learner management systems

  • Provide comprehensive feedback to stakeholders on driver assessments

  • Support TETA-accredited training initiatives and conduct assessments fairly and consistently

  • Perform route inspections and site audits to ensure vehicle readiness and compliance

  • Assist with operational duties when required and ensure adherence to company SOPs

  • Promote health and safety awareness at all times

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Code EC driver’s license with valid PrDP

  • Registered TETA Assessor

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Code EC driver

  • Proven experience as a driver trainer or instructor

  • Clear driving and criminal record

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed

  • Skilled in operating various vehicle types and handling dangerous goods

Required Unit Standards

  • Operating vehicle combination (Superlink and Articulated)

  • Operating rigid heavy and light vehicles

  • Handling dangerous goods

  • Operating warehouse lifting equipment

  • Firefighting

Skills Required

  • Strong facilitation and presentation abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management

  • Resilient under pressure with good interpersonal skills

  • Effective problem-solving and communication capabilities
