SAB Vacancies – Distribution Controller
SAB is seeking a Distribution Controller to manage the performance and activities of the distribution department. This role involves leading projects, optimizing resources, and ensuring that customer requirements are met while making the best use of company resources. The Distribution Controller plays a key role in leading the Distribution Process Optimization (DPO), setting strategic plans, and driving compliance with delivery challenges.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Departmental Leadership
- Lead the implementation of DPO (Distribution Process Optimization).
- Negotiate contractor costs to ensure the best economical price.
- Review departmental machine and manpower resources to ensure optimal utilization.
- Strategic Planning and Budget Management
- Prepare a strategic plan for the financial year, with insights for inclusion in the Depot Business Plan.
- Develop the departmental annual budget (Fixed and Variables) and manage costs throughout the year.
- Set and cascade team and individual goals to meet strategic objectives.
- Operational Management
- Manage customer and driver master data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Plan and manage trade visits, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Oversee the full beer return process and safety monitoring to enforce critical behaviors.
- Performance Analysis and Improvement
- Lead weekly performance meetings to address trends and develop sustainable plans.
- Manage supply chain transfers and ensure adherence to plan.
- Review SLAs and attend meetings to address non-compliance with stakeholders.
- Fleet and Asset Management
- Optimize fleet utilization through effective use of contracted transport and route planning.
- Develop contingency plans for vehicle replacement and ensure delivery fleet compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage and analyze distribution key performance areas to ensure optimal asset utilization.
- Employee Development and Communication
- Develop employees and ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
- Communicate effectively in the workplace and manage the performance of direct reports.
Profile Requirements
- Minimum of a B.Sc./B.Tech/HND in a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
- Strong leadership and assertiveness.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on setting and achieving goals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
