Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated Dispensary Manager for their Thatcfield store. This role involves overseeing the dispensary and self-medication areas, managing staff, and ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care. You will be responsible for addressing patient needs and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Supervise and manage dispensary staff, ensuring they work within their scope of practice and adhere to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) rules and regulations.
  • Stock Management: Oversee stock levels, ensuring no expired or short-dated stock is held. Regularly dispose of expired stock and manage negative stock. Prepare for stocktakes and follow stock ordering processes for maximum compliance.
  • Medication Control: Secure Schedule 6 medications, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with SAPC registration requirements. Accurately interpret prescriptions and ensure all medication picking, packing, labeling, and checking is performed correctly.
  • Patient Care: Provide clear instructions to patients on medication use, explain medical aid costs, and ensure authorization of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
  • Administrative Duties: Capture and verify script details on the system, process paperwork for medical aid claims, and maintain customer profiles. Train the Dispensary Admin Assistant and oversee dispensary administration.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • BPharm or equivalent qualification.
    • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • Registered tutor.
    • Experience with Unisolv.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Computer literate (MS Office).
    • Strong numerical skills.
    • Proficiency in English and a second language.
    • Willingness to work retail hours.
  • Advantageous:
    • Previous management experience of at least 7 staff members.
    • Relevant retail/FMCG experience.
    • Knowledge of a third additional language.
    • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.

  • Proficiency in English and a second language (read, write, speak).
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service focus.
  • Knowledge of dosing, drug interactions, and conflict management.
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, and lead staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Trustworthy, honest, and a team player.
  • Good time management and computer skills (MS Office).

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.
  • Ability to work retail hours.
  • Physically fit, able to stand for long periods, and manage controlled room temperatures and security measures.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
