DisChem Vacancies – Dispensary Manager – Modjadji

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a skilled Dispensary Manager for their Modjadji store. This role involves managing and supervising the dispensary and self-medication areas, leading a team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to meet patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Oversee and manage the dispensary team, ensuring compliance with scope of practice and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) rules and regulations.
  • Stock Control: Manage stock levels, ensure no expired or short-dated stock is retained, and handle regular disposal of expired items. Investigate and manage negative stock, prepare for stocktakes, and follow the stock ordering process for optimal purchasing compliance.
  • Medication Management: Secure Schedule 6 medications, maintain accurate records, and ensure SAPC registration is current. Accurately interpret prescriptions and ensure correct medication handling, including picking, packing, labeling, and checking.
  • Patient Care: Provide clear instructions to patients on medication use, explain medical aid costs, and ensure proper authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
  • Administrative Duties: Capture and verify prescription details, process paperwork for medical aid claims, and maintain customer profiles. Ensure the Dispensary Admin Assistant is trained and manages most of the dispensary admin tasks.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • BPharm or equivalent qualification.
    • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • Registered tutor.
    • Experience with Unisolv.
    • Proven supervisory experience.
    • Proficient in MS Office.
    • Strong numerical skills.
    • Fluent in English and a second language.
    • Willing to work retail hours.
  • Advantageous:
    • Management experience with a team of at least 7 staff.
    • Relevant retail/FMCG experience.
    • Knowledge of a third additional language.
    • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English and a second language (read, write, speak).
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service focus.
  • Understanding of dosing, drug interactions, and conflict management.
  • Experience in supervising and training staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Trustworthy, honest, and a team player.
  • Good time management and computer literacy (MS Office).

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.

  • Physically fit to stand for long periods and handle controlled environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
