DisChem Vacancies – Dispensary Manager – Cosmo City

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a dedicated Dispensary Manager for their Cosmo City store. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the dispensary operations, including self-medication and staff supervision, ensuring high standards of pharmaceutical care and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Lead and supervise the dispensary team, ensuring all staff operate within their scope of practice and adhere to Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) regulations.
  • Stock Management: Maintain optimal stock levels, manage expired or short-dated stock, and ensure accurate stocktaking. Investigate and address negative stock, and follow the stock ordering process to ensure purchasing compliance.
  • Medication Handling: Secure and manage Schedule 6 medications, maintain accurate records, and ensure SAPC registration is current. Interpret prescriptions professionally and ensure correct medication handling, including picking, packing, labeling, and checking.
  • Patient Interaction: Provide clear instructions on medication use, manage medical aid costs, and handle paperwork for accurate submission of claims. Authorize chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications.
  • Administrative Duties: Capture and verify prescription details, manage customer profiles, and train the Dispensary Admin Assistant to handle the bulk of administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • BPharm or equivalent qualification.
    • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • Registered tutor.
    • Experience with Unisolv.
    • Proven experience in supervising staff.
    • Proficient in MS Office.
    • Strong numerical skills.
    • Fluent in English and a second language.
    • Willing to work retail hours.
  • Advantageous:
    • Previous management experience with a team of at least 7 staff.
    • Relevant retail/FMCG experience.
    • Knowledge of a third additional language.
    • Experience with SAP and E-Scripting.

  • Understanding of basic dosing and important drug interactions.

  • Good time management and computer literacy (MS Office).

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Physically fit to stand for long periods and handle controlled environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
  • South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
