Dischem Vacancies – Junior IT Help Desk Support
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Junior IT Help Desk Support to join our IT team at our Head Office in Midrand. As a Junior IT Help Desk Support, you will be responsible for addressing help desk inquiries through various communication channels, setting up new users on Windows, and assisting staff with technical issues following Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least 1 year of relevant IT help desk experience
- Advantageous:
- Relevant IT qualification
- 2 years of relevant experience
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to help desk inquiries and resolve issues according to priority.
- Set up new user accounts, including Windows setup and Outlook configuration.
- Install relevant software programs and reset user passwords as needed.
- Provide outstanding customer service by addressing customer issues courteously and patiently.
- Troubleshoot basic setup issues and escalate more complex problems to a supervisor or manager.
- Maintain accurate records of closed calls in the call logging system.
- Communicate known problems with supervisors and managers promptly.
- Set up access at new locations for existing accounts and move relevant files and folders.
- Escalate calls that cannot be resolved remotely.
Competencies:
- Essential:
- Strong knowledge of computer logic and methodology, especially Windows 10.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues and install software programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Trustworthy, honest, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Advantageous:
- Familiarity with Windows Server 2019/2012 and domain experience.
- Previous help desk or IT experience.
- Knowledge of additional languages.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record (MIE).
- Work begins promptly at 08:00 and ends at 16:30 with static breaks. Shifts do not apply to this position.
- Access to confidential information requires signing a non-disclosure confidentiality agreement.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
