Dischem Vacancies – Digital Designer Graduate

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Digital Designer Graduate to join our Marketing team at our Head Office in Midrand. As a Digital Designer Graduate, you will be responsible for creating digital design concepts and layouts for our digital platforms, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet Dis-Chem’s standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Diploma or Degree in Web Design
    • 0-1 year of experience in a design environment
  • Advantageous:
    • Degree in UX Design
    • Experience in retail marketing
    • Experience with the Magento Platform
    • Knowledge of UX design principles

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and create digital design concepts, including sketches, wireframes, or digital mock-ups based on business strategy and industry best practices.
  • Produce digital content, including graphics, animations, tiles, and banners, for various campaigns and platforms.
  • Design for social media platforms, email templates, website banners, Google Display ads, mobile banners, and app banners.
  • Oversee and manage design work produced by external suppliers and agencies, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
  • Research and present new design trends to enhance Dis-Chem’s digital platforms.
  • Create quick animations for social media platforms, including GIFs and short videos.

Email Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Design and update email templates and wireframes, incorporating HTML & CSS.
  • Build and manage a master database, create trackable links, and handle email marketing campaigns.
  • Schedule and manage email sends, ensuring emails work across all digital platforms.

Web Design Responsibilities:

  • Design visual imagery for websites, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Incorporate functionalities and features into websites.
  • Design landing pages and build them with HTML & CSS.
  • Research web trends and best practices to keep the company updated.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • Knowledge of design concepts and digital platforms
    • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
    • Cognitive skills and business acumen
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure
    • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Advantageous:
    • SAP and QlikView knowledge

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be a South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record.
  • Valid driver’s license and/or own reliable transport.
  • May be required to work overtime to meet promotional deadlines.
