Introduction:
SPAR is currently seeking a skilled and driven Development Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage the development of new and existing stores, including in-store concepts, ensuring projects are delivered to SPAR’s specifications, on time, and within budget.
Job Description:
As the Development Manager, you will oversee all aspects of store development, from coordinating layouts and managing site meetings to liaising with suppliers and professional teams. Your role will focus on ensuring compliance with standards, maintaining budgets, and driving innovation in line with market trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate store layouts for both new developments and revamp projects, collaborating with all relevant stakeholders.
- Set up and lead site meetings to ensure adherence to SPAR specifications throughout each project.
- Work closely with professional teams to ensure compliance with SANS regulations across all developments.
- Manage internal communications between various departments to ensure seamless project execution.
- Coordinate and manage equipment suppliers, ensuring all specifications are met.
- Control and manage project budgets based on feasibility studies.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, from inception to completion, facilitating clear communication with all stakeholders.
- Provide weekly progress updates on all ongoing projects.
- Innovate and maintain SPAR’s brand image by staying ahead of market trends.
- Negotiate favorable pricing with suppliers while maintaining quality standards and adhering to SLAs.
- Foster strong relationships with retailers, providing leadership and support throughout project development.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric qualification.
- A degree or diploma in Construction Management is advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of the built environment, with experience in structural and mechanical aspects.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a retail development role.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- High technical proficiency and solid numerical skills.
- Flexibility in working hours, with the ability to travel extensively and stay overnight as needed.
- Strong negotiating skills and the ability to work independently.
- Valid South African driver’s license.
