Tiger Brands Vacancies – Development Manager
The Enterprise Development Manager is responsible for planning and managing the delivery of development services and functionality across systems in both project (“build”) and operational (“run”) contexts. This role leads a team of Information Analysts and Developers who design, develop, test, and document IT application changes while ensuring usability, performance, scalability, and stability. The role also oversees release management for in-scope applications, ensuring smooth deployments with minimal business disruption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure application and system integrity during development and deployment of enhancements.
- Manage and maintain operational release plans.
- Oversee backlog management, including bugs, incidents, change requests, and enhancements for Oracle ERP and non-Oracle applications.
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of Developers across various technologies, including Oracle Forms, Reports, OAF, PL/SQL, Java, Fusion Middleware/SOA, Informatica, and MicroStrategy.
- Support release visibility and planning for the Application Director.
- Ensure proper execution of release controls to mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with Business Engagement teams to ensure proper stakeholder communication.
- Conduct service handovers and lead go-live authorization discussions with the Service Delivery team.
- Maintain system documentation and ensure optimal application availability.
- Monitor and control service changes to minimize disruptions.
- Identify opportunities for automation and system improvements.
- Provide strategic guidance on application portfolio management, modernization, and cloud migration.

- Meeting SLA targets.
- Business satisfaction scores.
- Reduction in application versions and audit findings.
- Successful delivery of business and IT projects.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field.
- 6-8+ years of experience in IT systems development, release management, and operational support.
- Strong tactical planning skills and ability to manage time and resource constraints.
- Deep knowledge of IT systems, architectures, and development methodologies.
- Proficiency in ITIL Release and Deployment processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate development, deployment, and business impact awareness.
