Dischem Vacancies – DC Inventory Clerk
Dis-Chem Pharmacies in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a DC Inventory Clerk to join our team. The primary objective of this role is to ensure operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Warehouse. The DC Inventory Clerk is responsible for performing clerical functions in the Inventory Department to meet both legal and customer requirements, maintaining stock accuracy, and ensuring physical stock integrity.
Minimum Requirements:
- Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Advantageous:
- 2 years of relevant experience in a Distribution, Logistics, or Supply Chain Environment
- Degree or Diploma in Transport Management or Supply Chain / Logistics
Job Description:
- Analyze and interpret all potential departmental shrinkage indicators (adjustments) and take appropriate action.
- Maintain stock rotation based on the FEFO (first expiry, first out) principle.
- Continuously resolve stock issues and errors to ensure stock accuracy.
- Update stock reports as required by management.
- Conduct continuous inventory and annual stock counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Address internal and external customer queries promptly and efficiently.
- Develop effective relationships with internal customers to improve operational efficiencies.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting their expectations and resolving their queries.
- Ensure optimal planning and forecasting of department resources to meet day-to-day strategic objectives.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy while performing clerical duties.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and spot-checks for accuracy, addressing any discrepancies.
Competencies:
- Essential:
- Strong command of the English language (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics, and supply chain operations.
- Demonstrated personal initiative and a customer service mindset.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Understanding of leadership principles, values, and behaviors.
- Advantageous:
- Knowledge of a second language.
- Ability to identify operational obstacles and opportunities, maintaining composure under pressure.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Flexibility to adapt to working hours according to business needs, including day, night, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Willingness to be rotated within the department and perform other functions as needed.
- Must be a South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record.
- Valid driver’s license and/or own reliable transport.
