As the Data Analyst at Rand Mutual, you will leverage data analytics techniques, including mining, generation, and visualization, to provide exceptional Big Data support to the business. You will transform complex data into actionable, goal-driven reports that drive innovation and growth.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Data Management
- Identify the most reliable data sources and maintain accurate data systems.
- Develop and optimize databases by collecting data from primary and secondary sources, creating scalable scripts for efficient data evaluation.
- Classify, clean, analyze, and report data according to RMA’s risk definitions (Sensitive and Public).
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and quality through rigorous validation and improvement programs.
- Extract and analyze data from RMA systems to uncover insights.
- Design and implement advanced analytic systems, simplifying complex data frameworks.
- Detect trends and growth opportunities by analyzing large datasets.
- Map data entities and sources, maintaining documentation for policies, definitions, and provenance.
- Resolve discrepancies in data definitions and standardize centrally used attributes.
- Assess internal systems for inefficiencies, creating protocols for data handling and processing.
Compliance & Governance
- Monitor compliance with Enterprise Data Governance policies.
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards, including PAIA, POPIA, and ECTA.
Business Analysis & Improvement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and build relationships.
- Offer data interpretation consulting to support business decision-making.
- Drive analysis initiatives and service improvement projects across the organization.
- Partner with project managers to define KPIs and deliver actionable insights.
- Conduct proactive analyses to identify efficiency and productivity improvements.
Reporting
- Develop best-practice reports using data mining and visualization techniques.
- Create interactive dashboards by integrating data from multiple sources.
- Define methods for delivering enterprise data insights.
- Generate ad hoc and scheduled reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Present regular findings to internal teams and executive leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Analytics.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in a BI environment.
- Proficiency in SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI, Excel, R, and statistical analysis tools.
- Strong data cleansing, mining, and visualization skills.
- Experience in technical reporting, database design, and segmentation.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex data insights.
- Collaborative mindset with proven success in team environments.
