Key Responsibilities
As a Confectioner, your daily tasks will include:
- Mixing, fermenting, baking, cooling, and packaging baked goods
- Following and creating recipes with precision
- Preparing fillings, applying glazes, and decorating products
- Operating baking equipment such as slicing and wrapping machines
- Adjusting ingredient quantities based on production requirements
- Managing inventory, supplies, and equipment orders
- Ensuring ingredients are stored safely and hygienically
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the bakery
- Coordinating deliveries and managing supply storage
- Weighing ingredients, preparing dough, and shaping or cutting dough
- Monitoring oven temperatures and baking times to ensure quality
- Placing dough into pans or molds and baking in production ovens
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Matric (High School Diploma)
- Proven experience as a Confectioner or Baker (3-5 years preferred)
- Clear criminal record
- Ability to work shifts and weekends
- Strong attention to detail when following and creating recipes
- Must reside within 25km of the job location
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Confectioner
