Sanlam is looking for a proactive and organized Coordinator: Data Strategy to join the Santam Group Data Strategy Office. In this role, you will provide administrative and coordination support to the Data Strategy team within Group Underwriting Services, playing a crucial part in the delivery of the Data Pillar initiatives and Group-level Data Use Cases.
What Will You Do?
As a Coordinator: Data Strategy, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations within the Data Strategy team. Your role will support data transformation initiatives by coordinating team activities, handling administrative tasks, and assisting in the execution of strategic data projects. You will report directly to the Product Owner for Data Strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- General Administration Support:
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, and capture action items, ensuring follow-through.
- Provide budget and cost control support, process invoices, and assist with monitoring and managing the team’s budget.
- Maintain office asset management, manage IT equipment for team members, and handle travel arrangements.
- Organize and manage team functions, onboarding of new members, and manage scheduling of meetings and venues.
- Stakeholder Management and Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact for all administrative matters.
- Facilitate communication between the Data Strategy team, the Project Delivery Centre (PDC), and other stakeholders.
- Resource and Risk Management:
- Assist in identifying resource needs for Data Pillar maturity and Data Use Case initiatives.
- Help allocate resources effectively and collaborate on risk mitigation plans.
- Process Improvement:
- Support the improvement of project management and delivery processes.
- Develop tools, templates, and best practices to enhance project efficiency.
- Data Pillar Initiative Coordination:
- Monitor and support the implementation of data maturity initiatives aligned with strategic goals.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and executing key initiatives, ensuring milestones are met and dependencies are managed.
- Provide clear and timely progress reports to all stakeholders.
- Data Use Case Support:
- Develop and track the Data Use Case Portfolio, ensuring outcomes are documented and business impact is reported.
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the team.
- Change Management Coordination:
- Assist the Change Management team in planning and executing initiatives related to the change management strategy.
- Track milestones, maintain timelines, and support issue resolution.
What Will Make You Successful in This Role?
To excel as a Coordinator: Data Strategy, you should have:
- Experience & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience as a project administrator or coordinator in a large corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of the insurance or financial services industry.
- Proven experience managing senior-level engagements (CEO office or similar).
- Experience working with financial systems and managing contractor governance.
- Familiarity with data management frameworks (e.g., DAMA) and working in data-related initiatives.
- Experience with agile methodologies, including scrum ceremonies and sprint planning.
- A solid understanding of the system development lifecycle from business concept to deployment.
- Skills:
- Advanced computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sharepoint).
- Experience with Atlassian suite (Confluence and JIRA) and MS Teams.
- Strong financial and management reporting skills (e.g., JDE, Qlik).
- Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle confidential information, and think critically.
