Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Clinic Practitioner to join their team at Hillcrest. The primary objective of this role is to effectively manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy, ensuring compliance with the scope of practice for a registered nursing practitioner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinic Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the clinic, ensuring it meets business and healthcare standards while remaining profitable.
  • Patient Care: Provide comprehensive primary health care services, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure timely follow-up communication.
  • Stock and Equipment: Maintain clinic stock levels and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition to meet industry standards.
  • Claims Processing: Accurately and promptly process claims in accordance with industry regulations.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and other key healthcare stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing.
    • Degree or Diploma in Midwifery.
    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
    • BHF registration (must be obtained).
    • 2-3 years of experience as a Clinic Practitioner in a Primary Health Care setting.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advantageous:
    • 5+ years of experience as a Clinic Practitioner.
    • Knowledge of Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra.

Competencies:

  • Essential:
    • Expertise in community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care.
    • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to analyze clinic statistics and manage financial targets.
    • High emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, integrity, and reliability.
    • Self-management and team leadership capabilities, with strong time management skills.
  • Advantageous:
    • Bilingual proficiency.
    • Understanding of broader business objectives.
    • Completion of courses in Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours.
  • Physically fit and healthy to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
  • South African citizen.
