Chemical Plant Operator (CPO) – Sasol careers

Purpose of Job
Coordinate and direct maintenance and repair services for a specific process within a production line, managing control panels and performing complex troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide regular feedback to supervisors on work progress.
• Participate in risk assessments in line with legislation and company requirements to enhance safety.
• Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste disposal procedures.
• Work independently while understanding business drivers and KPIs.
• Apply and uphold safety standards in the working environment.
• Participate in shift handover meetings.
• Identify personal training and development needs and integrate them into the PDP with group leader approval.
• Coach learners and SMEs on the job.
• Present information on specific plant equipment.
• Conduct IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
• Collaborate effectively within a team.
• Play a key role during emergencies to restore plant operations.
• Give and receive feedback with other disciplines on daily operational issues.
• Contribute to toolbox talks to improve plant safety.

Formal Education

• Grade 12 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
• Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate

Working Experience

• 2+ years of relevant experience
