About the Role:

Pick n Pay is seeking a dedicated Checkout Assistant to ensure a smooth and efficient checkout experience for our customers. The role involves packaging purchased goods, maintaining cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Checkout and Packaging:
  • Pack purchased goods into checkout bags and trolleys following the required standards.
  • Ensure and maintain high standards of packaging at the point of sale.
• Customer Service:
  • Approach every situation from the customer’s perspective, providing positive and responsive service.
  • Communicate effectively by listening attentively, responding clearly, and maintaining a courteous demeanor.
• Hygiene and Cleanliness:
  • Use detergents and cleaning materials/chemicals to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Operational Efficiency:
  • Display a sense of urgency, striving to complete tasks quickly and efficiently.
  • Perform routine tasks consistently to a high standard.
• Personal Development:
  • Seek opportunities for self-improvement and professional growth.
  • Be flexible, multi-skilled, and willing to adapt to various tasks as needed.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of retail experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Must pass assessments at the required level and competency-based interviews.
  • Flexibility to be transferred between stores.
  • Willingness to authorize a full credit and criminal check.
  • Valid South African ID (copy required with application).
  • Must reside close to Pick n Pay Klerksdorp Hyper.
  • Ability to work shifts to meet operational requirements.
