Position Overview:

Sanlam is seeking a highly skilled Change Manager to guide the organization through transformative changes, specifically focusing on data strategy delivery. This role will drive the management and execution of change management processes, helping to implement data-driven solutions and foster organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Change Management Leadership: Lead the change management process to ensure successful implementation of solutions, aligning with both business and client needs.
  • Change Strategy Design: Design and execute stakeholder communication, impact assessments, training, and support strategies using structured processes and project management disciplines.
  • Organizational Support: Prepare, support, and equip teams to embrace new processes, systems, technologies, and structures, focusing on the human side of change.
  • Communication and Branding: Support the development and delivery of key communications, creating a consistent change management brand identity for all messaging efforts.
  • Change Impact Assessment: Conduct and analyze change impact assessments to define strategies and manage resistance to change.
  • Coaching and Training: Provide input into training programs, mentor project teams, and support leadership coaching to ensure adoption of new processes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with change advocates and stakeholders across the organization, ensuring alignment with data strategy.
  • Change Management Workstreams: Define and manage the change management approach, reporting progress, mitigating risks, and tracking blockers.
  • Innovation and Measurement: Create innovative mechanisms to drive change awareness and measure the success of change initiatives, adjusting strategies for sustained impact.

What Will Make You Successful in This Role? The Change Manager for the Data Strategy delivery is essential to the success of the data transformation journey. This role will ensure the organization achieves its data strategy objectives by supporting teams through changes and fostering adoption of data-driven practices. The ideal candidate will help mitigate resistance to change and build a culture of continuous adoption at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, Business, or related fields.
  • Certified in Change Management (e.g., Prosci, CCMP, APMG, Kotter Model).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Change Manager in large organizations, particularly in data transformation or technology-driven environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance/financial services industry, data management frameworks (such as DAMA), and their impact on business operations.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with Scrum ceremonies and sprint planning.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing change due to emerging technologies like AI, Cloud, and ML.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Honors or Master’s).
  • Data Management/Analytics certification (e.g., CDMP, CAP).
  • Project Management and Agile Methodologies certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Leadership in strategic change and the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, facilitating group discussions, and driving consensus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and collaboration tools such as Confluence and SharePoint.
