Job Description:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a CCTV Operator for our Distribution Centre in Longmeadow. The role involves providing security services in compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001, protecting assets, property, and staff by creating a secure environment. The CCTV Operator will monitor surveillance footage, investigate disturbances, and ensure adherence to relevant legislation and best practices.

Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Grade C accreditation with PSIRA
  • 1-3 years of CCTV control room experience in a warehousing/distribution center environment
  • At least 1 year of CCTV control room experience in a pharmaceutical warehousing environment and Hikvision experience

Advantageous:

  • At least 2 years of CCTV control room experience in a pharmaceutical warehousing environment and Hikvision experience

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Be vigilant and alert to identify suspicious activities and inform Security Guards according to Dis-Chem standard operating procedures
  • Monitor and control access to the premises, documenting and regulating entrance for authorized individuals
  • Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry to management and take appropriate action
  • Provide courteous and friendly assistance to guests, customers, and employees
  • Protect the property and assets of the business from dishonest persons and malicious behavior
  • Maintain a presence at your post during duty hours
  • Practice good customer service relations with all Dis-Chem internal and external customers
  • Report any unusual or suspicious behavior by staff, customers, or suppliers
  • Be observant and vigilant during opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor CCTV footage and alarm systems, and operate emergency equipment as needed
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance of the premises during night shifts or when alone
  • Assist emergency teams during crises, providing directions and maintaining order
  • Offer ongoing security advice and safety warnings to ensure adherence to precautions
  • Respond quickly and correctly during crises to prevent loss of lives or property
  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences and daily activities
  • Enforce rules and regulations to prevent criminal activity
  • Perform special duties as required, including receiving phone calls, responding to messages, and running errands for the department
  • Maintain and complete all registers and occurrence books
  • Conduct legal and ethical investigations in line with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures
  • Implement strategies to minimize financial losses due to theft, accidents, injury, or vandalism
  • Conduct audits as required and act accordingly
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures, health and safety rules, and uniform policies
